SENSAEROGRAPH – Expected results
The expected results of the project can be summarized as follows:
1) Development of new sensors for the measurement of atmospheric pollutants capable of measuring concentrations in open environments (environmental atmospheres) or in “indoor” applications, such as schools, museums, homes, etc. Initially, the process will be limited to some important gas pollutants such as Nitrogen Oxide and Nitrogen Dioxide, and will then continue for other atmospheric pollutants as well.
2) The developed sensors will be optimized according to their characteristics that will lead them to be used in different application fields. Among these, it is important to protect the health of workers and experimenters exposed to high concentrations of polluting gases.
3) Characterization of active graphene surfaces with advanced chemical-physical methods in order to establish a sufficiently precise relationship between the characteristics of the surfaces and the response expected from the sensors.
4) Construction of sensors and sensor systems dedicated to specific applications that are of great importance for the country. Among these, the protection of cultural heritage.
